trophyOn Wednesday 30th March, our Year 6 children visited Christ the King Sixth Form College to take part in Enterprise Day. The Year 6 children have been working closely with Sixth Form business students and business entrepreneurs since November on their 'Company Y' product or service ideas. In groups, the children had to choose a name for their company and develop a business idea with a business plan. For Enterprise Day, only two teams could be entered and the children decided themselves who would represent the school.

‘QC Landshare’ and ‘Wildlife Wonders’ were the two teams chosen to put forward their ideas to a panel of four judges in a 'Dragon's Den' style, which included representatives from HSBC Bank and local government departments.

The competition consisted of 7 other local schools, each bringing two teams so very strong and fierce competitors. Both teams presented their business plans while the rest of Year 6 participated in a range of social enterprise games with Natwest Bank and 'Make Believe Arts'.

After a long, anticipated wait, Dawn Dowdie from Christ the King began to give out the trophies. There was nothing for Brindishe Green in any category. Until finally, the overall SELELP (South East London Enterprise Learning Partnership) Enterprise Champions 2011 were announced...QC LandShare, Brindishe Green. The most prestigious award of the day and the one everyone wanted to win! Our children returned with a magnificent glass trophy and all children and staff were ecstatic.

Well done to QC Landshare but also congratulations to Wildlife Wonders who also worked extremely and equally as hard on their business idea. The whole of Year 6 were impeccably behaved throughout the whole day and it was great to see such teamwork and camaraderie... this was not only a great win for the QC Landshare team but more importantly a victory for Year 6. Well done - we are so very proud of you.
